Plagiarism Policy

International Humanities Research Nexus (IHRN)

The International Humanities Research Nexus (IHRN) upholds the highest standards of academic integrity and ethical publishing. To ensure the credibility of the journal and the originality of its published content, the following policy is implemented to address and prevent plagiarism.

Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism is defined as the unethical use of another individual's ideas, words, or intellectual property without proper acknowledgment. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Direct copying of text without citation.
  • Paraphrasing someone else’s work without proper attribution.
  • Presenting another person’s data, results, or concepts as one’s own.

Unacceptable Forms of Plagiarism

The following practices are strictly prohibited by IHRN:

  1. Verbatim Copying: Reproducing text word-for-word without quotation marks or proper citation.
  2. Paraphrasing Without Attribution: Restating ideas or findings from another source without appropriate acknowledgment.
  3. Self-Plagiarism: Republishing an author’s own previously published work without disclosure or proper citation.
  4. Unauthorized Collaboration: Submitting co-created work without acknowledgment of collaborators.
  5. Data Fabrication or Falsification: Inventing, modifying, or manipulating research data, methods, or results.

Originality and Attribution

Authors are solely responsible for ensuring that all submitted work to IHRN is original.
Proper citation and clear attribution must be given to all referenced sources, and any overlap with previously published content must be transparently disclosed in the manuscript.

Plagiarism Detection

All manuscripts submitted to IHRN undergo plagiarism screening using reliable and advanced plagiarism detection software.
The editorial team reserves the right to interpret the originality report and take necessary actions based on its findings.

Consequences of Plagiarism

If plagiarism is detected at any stage—pre- or post-publication—IHRN may take the following actions:

  • Immediate Rejection: Manuscripts found to contain plagiarized content will be immediately rejected.
  • Author Notification: Authors will be informed of the plagiarism and given an opportunity to respond or provide clarification.
  • Retraction of Published Articles: If plagiarism is found after publication, the article will be retracted, and a formal retraction notice will be issued.
  • Blacklisting: Authors who commit serious plagiarism may be barred from submitting to IHRN in the future.

Reporting Plagiarism

IHRN encourages all stakeholders—readers, reviewers, and editors—to report any suspected instances of plagiarism.
Reports will be handled confidentially and investigated thoroughly by the editorial board.

Appeals Process

Authors have the right to appeal any plagiarism-related decisions.
Appeals must be submitted in writing to the editorial office along with supporting evidence. The editorial board will review and respond based on the merits of the case.

Policy Review and Revision

This policy will be reviewed periodically to align with evolving best practices in academic publishing. Any updates will be communicated transparently through the journal’s official platforms.
