The Impact of Online Mobile Games on Secondary and Higher Secondary Students in Shariatpur District

Online mobile gaming has emerged as a prevalent leisure activity among secondary and higher secondary students, attributable to swift improvements in digital technology and mobile internet accessibility. This study investigates the effects of online mobile gaming on students' academic performance, social conduct, and interpersonal relationships in Domshar Union in Shariatpur Zilla, Bangladesh. A quantitative research design utilized a semi-structured questionnaire to gather data from 100 students, which was subsequently analyzed using descriptive statistics and correlation analysis. The results indicate that action-based games are the most favored, with several pupils participating in extended daily gaming sessions. The study indicates a substantial correlation between conflicts in gaming communities and disputes among teammates, while other social factors, such as neighborhood impressions, significantly affect gaming experiences. Nonetheless, no substantial correlation was identified between educational achievement and gaming-related disputes, suggesting that social and environmental factors exert greater influence. The study underscores the intricate social ramifications of online mobile gaming and stresses the necessity for awareness initiatives and interventions to foster responsible gaming practices among students.
